In San Francisco and across the nation, SEIU families had reasons to celebrate after the November 4 election. If the presidential
election wasn't a landslide, Barack Obama's historic victory was
certainly an earthquake that shook the ground beneath priorities and
policies that have rendered life nearly unlivable for tens of millions
of working people and their families.
No less grandly, however, our efforts changed the memberships of city
councils, boards of supervisors and the California State Legislature as
they start grappling with this year's ballooning deficits and we start
preparing for major contract negotiations.
